Sometimes you meet with an old fish, mature, heavy set, battle scarred, washed out colours, a real river relic that could be as old as 40+ years old. 🤯
These kind of fish often have thick rubbery fins from years of multiple migrations and spawning. These beautiful slow growing long lived creatures deserve the utmost respect to ensure their future, every fish big or small, old or new 🐟
We handle with care and keep their time out of the water to a few seconds at a time when snapping a picture or 2. As long as they are given plenty of time to recover and get oxygen passing through their gills. 📸

Yesterday after traveling to Ilulissat we have sailed to Qaarsut for pick up Taekwondo team from Uummannaq. When it is too dark helicopter can’t fly due to the new regulations. But our boat is well equipped with lights and navigation equipment ⚓️👍 just a way of life when you are sailor ⚓️

At the end of a long canyon of rapids the river once again plateaus into a wide open river valley and the first pool is deep, glacial blue and slow flowing, great for foam! Though when the foam action dies off, a slow drifting nymph is just the ticket 😍

Има дестинации, които са една идея по-специални от други. За мен са северните.
Колкото повече остарява (или айде, пораства) душата ми, толкова по-голяма нужда има от студени места.
Трудно е за обяснение и масата от хората, с които съм заобиколена, дори най-близките ми и любими, не могат да разберат това мое влечение.
На север дишам по-леко, сърцето ми се забавя, по-тихо е, по-дълбоко съм със себе си и в себе си. И колкото по- на север, толкова по-добре.
Минаха повече от два месеца от нашата Гренландия. А аз все още се връщам към нея. Снимки, видеа, картини, които изплуват в главата ми, когато съм сама или почивам, или събирам енергия. Липсва ми ледът на Илулисат. Липсва ми слънцето от там – много по-ниско, много по-парещо. Шумът от пропукването на айсберг ми липсва. Само той, а всичко наоколо иначе болезнено тихо. Толкова чистота имаше там. Толкова природа. Накъдето се обърнеш, си прегърнат от природа. Ледовете се показват след всеки завой, вървиш с километри, а краят на огромните ледени блокове не се вижда и не идва. Студът щипе, но не е неприятен. Особено с цялата светлина наоколо.
Липсват ми пейките с гледка. Сядаш и може с часове да не станеш. Само дишаш. И дишаш. И дишаш.
Тази обиколка на Илулисат минавам отново и отново в главата си. Опасва целия град. Върви по ръба на скалите. Часове на пълно съвършенство. Тихо, смирено, величествено съвършенство. Снимките са само плах и твърде неуспешен опит да запечатам това, което иначе очите ми имаха безценното щастие да видят.
В този Илулисат ще се върна. Някой ден…
